Full=HTH-type transcriptional regulator murR; |
| AltName: |
Full=MurPQ operon repressor; |
|
FUNCTION: Represses the expression of the murPQ operon involved in the uptake and degradation of N-acetylmuramic acid (MurNAc). Binds to two adjacent inverted repeats within the operator region. MurNAc 6-phosphate, the substrate of murQ, is the specific inducer that weakens binding of murR to the operator (By similarity).
PATHWAY: Amino-sugar metabolism; N-acetylmuramate degradation [regulation].
SUBUNIT: Homotetramer (By similarity).
GO:0003700; Molecular function: sequence-specific DNA binding transcription factor activity.
GO:0043470; Biological process: regulation of carbohydrate catabolic process.
GO:0045892; Biological process: negative regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent.
