| Description: |
Arcobacter butzleri, formerly named Campylobacter butzleri, is a Gram-negative rod isolated from aqueous environments. It is also present in different breeding animals and in a great variety of retail meats, including chicken, beef, pork, and lamb, with a high prevalence in poultry. A. butzleri can grow at all oxygen concentration and with a temperature range between 15 and 37 degrees Celsius. It has been associated with abortion and enteritis in animals and with diarrhea and bacteremia in adults and children. An important source of human contamination may be food. |
