HAMAP: Gramella forsetii (strain KT0803) complete proteome
General information

Species:  Gramella forsetii (strain KT0803)
Species code: GRAFK
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Bacteroidetes; Flavobacteriia; Flavobacteriales; Flavobacteriaceae; Gramella (TaxID: 411154) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: Gramella forsetii (strain KT0803) is a marine aerobic heterotrophic representative of the bacterial phylum Bacteroides. It has been isolated from Noth Sea surface waters during a phytoplankton bloom. Its genome is made up of a single circular chromosome. The analysis of its predicted proteome reveals a combination of extensive glycolytic and proteolytic potential which, along with certain membrane transport characteristics, is consistant with the notion that Bacteroidetes are usually considered efficient utilizers of the biopolymers present in marine high molecular weight organic matter. Gramella forsetii possesses a gene encoding a potential deoxyhypusine synthase, a typically eukaryal and archaeal post-translational modification enzyme.
