HAMAP: Moorella thermoacetica (strain ATCC 39073) complete proteome
General information

Species:  Moorella thermoacetica (strain ATCC 39073)
Species code: MOOTA
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Firmicutes; Clostridia; Thermoanaerobacterales; Thermoanaerobacteraceae; Moorella group; Moorella (TaxID: 264732) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: Moorella thermoacetica (originally isolated as Clostridium thermoaceticum) is a Gram-positive, thermophilic, acetogenic and rod-shaped bacterium. It uses carbon dioxide as a terminal electron acceptor and concomitantly synthesizes biomass and acetate via the acetyl-CoA or Wood-Ljungdahl pathway. This anaerobe can use a wide range of electron donors (sugars, hydrogen, carbon monoxide, alcohols, organic acids and aromatic compounds). Its spores are extremely resistant to high temperatures (55-60 degrees Celsius).
Properties: Presence of flagella: Yes
Human pathogen: No
Interaction: No
Number of membranes: 1
Number of inteins:0
Statistics: Number of MOOTA entries in the UniProt Knowledgebase: 2451 (332 in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot + 2119 in UniProtKB/TrEMBL)
