It is a widely distributed and economically important plant pathogen, that invades the roots of diverse plant hosts from the soil and aggressively colonizes the xylem vessels, causing a lethal wilting known as bacterial wilt disease. Strain GMI1000 was isolated from a tomato plant in French Guyana and belongs to phylotype 1/sequevar I/18. |
