HAMAP: Salmonella choleraesuis complete proteome
General information

Species:  Salmonella choleraesuis
Species code: SALCH
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Gammaproteobacteria; Enterobacteriales; Enterobacteriaceae; Salmonella (TaxID: 28901) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: Salmonella enterica serovar Choleraesuis is a highly invasive serovar among non-typhoidal Salmonella. It occasionally infects humans, usually causing sepsis or extra-intestinal focal infections. It also causes swine paratyphoid, with clinical manifestations of enterocolitis and septicemia. Infections due to S.cholerasuis are particularly difficult to treat because of the emergence of resistance to multiple antimicrobial agents. S.cholerasuis has 151 pseudogenes.
Properties: Presence of flagella: Yes
Human pathogen: Yes
Interaction: Animal pathogen in Mammalia
Number of membranes: 2
Number of inteins:0
Statistics: Number of SALCH entries in the UniProt Knowledgebase: 4607 (882 in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot + 3725 in UniProtKB/TrEMBL)
