HAMAP: Syntrophobacter fumaroxidans (strain DSM 10017 / MPOB) complete proteome
General information

Species:  Syntrophobacter fumaroxidans (strain DSM 10017 / MPOB)
Species code: SYNFM
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Deltaproteobacteria; Syntrophobacterales; Syntrophobacteraceae; Syntrophobacter (TaxID: 335543) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: Syntropobacter fumaroxidans is a syntrophic propionate-oxidizing bacterium, which was isolated from a culture enriched from anaerobic granular sludge. It oxidizes propionate syntrophically in co-culture with the hydrogen- and formate-utilizing Methanospirillum hungateii, and is able to oxidize propionate and other organic compounds in pure culture with sulfate or fumarate as the electron acceptor. Additionally, it ferments fumarate. It is a non-motile, non-spore-forming, Gram- bacteria.
Properties: Presence of flagella: No
Human pathogen: No
Interaction: No
Number of membranes: 2
Number of inteins:0
Statistics: Number of SYNFM entries in the UniProt Knowledgebase: 4012 (272 in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot + 3740 in UniProtKB/TrEMBL)
