| Description: | Vibrio vulnificus causes primary septicemia and wound infections. It was first recognized as a causative agent of a fatal septicemic infection in 1982. Septicemia occurs following ingestion of raw seafood preferentially in subjects having underlying diseases such as liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, hemochromatosis, or diabetes mellitus. Strain CMCP6 is a clinical isolate from Chonnam National University Hospital, Republic of Korea. It was partially resequenced and reannotated in 2011, see PMID 21245845. |
