Description: Xylanimonas cellulosilytica (strain DSM 15894 / CECT 5975 / LMG 20990 / XIL07) is an aerobic, chemoorganotrophic, xylanolytic Gram-positive bacterium isolated from a decayed tree, Ulmus nigra, in Salamanca (Spain). It produces abundant cellulases and xylanases. Growth is observed on many carbohydrates, including cellulose and xylan as the sole carbon sources. It does not grow with acetate, citrate, gluconate, inositol, malate or mannitol as carbon sources. Its optimal growth conditions are 30 degrees Celsius and pH 7. (Adaptated from PMID: 12656159).
