HAMAP: Xylella fastidiosa complete proteome
General information

Species:  Xylella fastidiosa
Species code: XYLFA
Taxonomy: Bacteria; Proteobacteria; Gammaproteobacteria; Xanthomonadales; Xanthomonadaceae; Xylella (TaxID: 2371) [NEWT/ NCBI]
Description: The Xanthomonadaceae are a family of Gram negative bacteria belonging to the order Xanthomonadales in the gammaproteobacteria. They are typically characterized as environmental organisms and are found in soil and water, as well as plant tissues. Many Xanthomonadaceae, especially species from the genera Xanthomonas and Xylella, cause plant diseases. Only one, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, has isolates known to be opportunistic human pathogens.

Fastidious, xylem-limited bacterium, which causes a range of economically important plant diseases such as Citrus Variegated Chlorosis (CVC), a serious disease of orange trees and Pierce's disease, a lethal disease of grapevine (currently only known in the Americas).
Properties: Presence of flagella: No
Human pathogen: No
Interaction: Plant pathogen
Number of membranes: 2
Number of inteins:0
Statistics: Number of XYLFA entries in the UniProt Knowledgebase: 2772 (522 in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot + 2250 in UniProtKB/TrEMBL)
