Full=DnaA-homolog protein hda; |
|
FUNCTION: Mediates the interactions of DnaA with the beta subunit sliding clamp, promoting hydrolysis of DnaA-bound ATP. It is essential for the control of initiation of DNA replication by inhibiting reinitiation of replication (By similarity).
SIMILARITY: Belongs to the DnaA family. HdA subfamily.

In E.coli this has been shown to be initiated from a CUG start codon (PubMed:18977760), the first CUG start codon found in E.coli, which as it is inefficiently used probably keeps the protein levels low. We have propagated this same start site to other Escherichia and Shigella species but no further. |
