Comments [?]

FUNCTIONForms part of the ribosomal stalk which helps the ribosome interact with GTP-bound translation factors. Is thus essential for accurate translation.
SUBUNITHomodimer. Part of the ribosomal stalk of the 50S ribosomal subunit. Forms a multimeric L10(L12)X complex, where L10 forms an elongated spine to which 2 to 4 L12 dimers bind in a sequential fashion. Binds GTP-bound translation factors.
case <OG:Chloroplast>
SUBCELLULAR LOCATIONPlastid, chloroplast.
end case
SIMILARITYBelongs to the bacterial ribosomal protein bL12 family.

Comments Has an equivalent position and function as 50S archaeal ribosomal protein L12 or 60S acidic protein P1, but has no sequence similarities. Between 2 and 4 L12 dimers bind to L10, depending on the length of the C-terminus of L10. See PubMed:20467040.
