Comments [?]

case <OC:Actinomycetota>
Function Catalyzes the transfer of the phosphoenolpyruvate moiety from enoylpyruvoyl-2-diphospho-5'-guanosine (EPPG) to 7,8-didemethyl-8-hydroxy-5-deazariboflavin (FO) with the formation of dehydro coenzyme F420-0 and GMP.
Catalytic activity RHEA:27510: 7,8-didemethyl-8-hydroxy-5-deazariboflavin + enolpyruvoyl-2-diphospho-5'-guanosine = dehydro coenzyme F420-0 + GMP + H(+)
EC 2.7.8.28
else case <OC:Archaea>
Function Catalyzes the transfer of the 2-phospholactate moiety from (2S)-lactyl-2-diphospho-5'-guanosine to 7,8-didemethyl-8-hydroxy-5-deazariboflavin (FO) with the formation of oxidized coenzyme F420-0 and GMP.
Catalytic activity RHEA:63444: (2S)-lactyl-2-diphospho-5'-guanosine + 7,8-didemethyl-8-hydroxy-5-deazariboflavin = GMP + H(+) + oxidized coenzyme F420-0
EC 2.7.8.28
end case
Cofactor Mg(2+)

Comments CofD homologs are found in the genomes of all organisms currently known to produce coenzyme F420. These include not only the methanogenic archaea but also nonmethanogenic archaea such as Halobacteria and Archaeoglobus, as well as some eubacteria such as Streptomyces, Mycobacterium, Nocardia, and Thermobifida. The reaction was shown to be different according to the species, but IUBMB has created a single EC number (they consider it is the same enzyme).
