Comments | Profile MF_02040 includes all members of the Mrp/NBP35 family. Rule MF_02040 annotates bacterial and archaeal matches. See MF_03038 for eukaryotic NUBP1/NBP35 subfamily and MF_03039 for eukaryotic NUBP2/CFD1 subfamily. The CXXC motif is thought to be required for Fe-S cluster binding. However, the individual cysteine residues in the CXXC motif seem dispensable (see APBC_SACS2). Other members lack this characteristic CXXC motif in the C terminus. More studies will be required to determine which residues are ligands for the Fe-S cluster in bacteria and archaea. |
